So the husband and I decided a weekend getaway was in order; we had been working hard and wanted sometime to de-stress. We wanted to go to the beach, without the kids and sit with our bums in the sand and a drink in our hand. We booked a trip to Hollywood Beach Florida and hit VRBO.com to find the perfect little retreat. (within a reasonable budget of course) After we found the place there was nothing left to do but count down the days! We live near Cincinnati; home of the highest cost airport in the country so we flew out of Columbus and direct into Fort Lauderdale, where we picked up our rental car and drove to the apartment we were renting. After a quick look around we started exploring and found that only steps away from where we were was a perfect oasis. The Hollywood Broadwalk was a short walk away and was in a word - impressive. Everything that we would want was there; the beach, bars and restaurants. It was the perfect mix of fun and relaxation and that was the moment the dreaming began. We decided right at that moment that we wanted to own a Beach House.
There are a few problems with us owning a beach house though... number one would be that we can't afford it, but a close number two would be that we know nothing about being vacation property owners. On day three of our extended weekend, we looked at each other and asked if we were serious about this daydream or if it was just because we were caught up in the moment. We decided we were serious and we was going to start saving and doing research. So, I started a blog!
This is where the dream begins; this is day #1. Our action plan is to save extra money away by doing odd jobs and to start researching. If we are successful, I am thinking this blog will make a great research tool and source of inspiration for others someday and can also act as a nice way to track our progress.
